Andrew Tonner is a 2006 1B/LHP from Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, AZ, with a 6'5", 190 lb. frame. He has great physical projection with loose, wiry present strength. Tonner is a primary first baseman but we see no reason why he shouldn't be in the outfield and he may even have the range to play centerfield. He ran the 60 in 6.93 with long, easy strides and was 4.44 down to first base. He showed plenty of arm strength during infield drills and during a short stint on the mound, too. At the plate, Tonner has a smooth, tension free swing with very good balance and plus extension out front. The ball jumps hard off his bat and he's going to just keep improving as he gets stronger and learns to use his hands more in his swing. He has great leverage at the point of contact, which could translate into big time power down the road. Keep an very close eye on this young hitter, he has the potential to really blossom into something special in the future.

Andrew Tonner is a 2006 1B/LHP from Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, AZ, with a 6'5", 190 lb. frame. Tonner was named to the Top Prospect Team and invited to the National Showcase. He has a great frame with present strength, but room to add even more. Tonner is a good all-around player, but his bat separates him. He has very good bat speed with plus raw power and the ball jumps off his bat. The bat stays through the zone well, and he can go down and get balls low in the zone. Tonner has an advanced approach and will hit for power and average at the next level. Defensively he has good range in the outfield with solid arm strength and good carry on his throws, and has the agility to play any outfield spot. On the mound he has a balanced delivery with good arm speed. His fastball topped out at 83 mph with some late life, and he mixed in a good changeup at 75 mph and a looping 67 mph curveball. Tonner has two way potential at the next level, but his bat will keep him in the lineup. He is a must follow, and he is a very good student.
