Cody Neer is a very big and strong 6'4/225 catcher from Orlando, FL. Neer is a big, physical young man who is maintaining his body life and quickness. The ball really jumps off his bat as his raw power is already a plus MLB tool and he's a switch hitter. He can flat out punish the baseball with a good strong swing that creates serious bat speed. His arm strength grades out better than MLB average and he showed some quickness with a 1.9 pop at 81 mph velocity. He is a quality big receiver. His entire game revolves around power. He will play at the highest level of college baseball and could create some serious draft interest. Cody is a very good student. He was invited and attended the PG AFLAC Showcase in Baltimore.

Cody Neer -- Neer is a junior catcher from Florida with a very strong, large athletic body. His size and strength in his hips and thighs make him appear bigger than his listed 205 lbs. Neer has maintained his body life and quickness well, though, and is very agile on defense. His arm strength is well above MLB average and Neer gets the ball to second base in a hurry. He was under 2.0 every throw in workouts and was 2.10 in games. At the plate, Neer is an aggressive hitter with a good balanced stance and load. He swings hard with an upper cut swing that produces above average MLB power potential. Neer will reach for balls because of his aggressive approach but he can hit the ball as hard and as far as anyone in his class when he gets his pitch. Neer also pitched an inning and topped out at 83 mph on his fastball. He’s a very good student as well. Cody could end up being one of the highest ranked catchers in the "05" class.

Excellent "05" catching prospect. Big strong body and a real hose. Does everything very well, even runs pretty good. Very good receiver and quick feet. Outstanding hitting potential! Good swing, big time power potential. Could develop into a high profile draft prospect. Keep a very close eye on this kid. He's got a big future.

This kid is for real. Very young and very talented behind the plate. He should end up one of the top catchers in his class. Also swings the bat very well and he's already got a good catchers body.

Neer has a big strong body for his age and showed some hitting ability with strength and bat-speed to handle some of the faster pitchers in Ft Myers. He has good arm strength, popping a 2+ to second base and it projects to get better with age. He showed a genuine enthusiasm for the game.
