2007 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Nick DaSilva is a 2007 RHP with a 6'4'', 195 lb. frame from Toronto, ON who attends Harbord C.I.. He has a long and loose limbed build that is ideal for a pitcher and projects well. DaSilva throws from a straight up rotational delivery with limited use of his lower half. He also doesn't get much leverage and pull from his front side on release. The overall effect is pretty deceptive, as DaSilva has a compact arm action that hides the ball well and his stiff delivery doesn't look like much, then his fastball jumps on hitters at a steady 85-87 mph. DaSilva's fastball has very good running life as well. His breaking ball is a upper 60's curveball that flashed decent spin and bite when he stayed on top of it. He also mixed in some mid 70's change ups. DaSilva's style is unusual but it works for him; his stuff is good, he knows how to use it and he's been very successful in Canadian baseball. He's an interesting prospect to continue to follow.
