Matt Lane is a 2009 LHP with a 6'4'', 175 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Pope HS. Matt has a long, lanky projectable frame and he uses a hi 3/4 arm slot. His fastball sat in the mid to better 80's and projects to add much more. He has a 1/7 curveball that was sharp when he stayed on top of it. He gets good extension out front and shows very good pitchability. He mixes three good pitches well and keeps hitters off balance. He is a 6'4" lefty to watch closely as he could really develop over the next year.

Matt Lane is a 2009 LHP with a 6'2'', 160 lb. frame from Marietta GA, who attends Pope HS. He has a tall, lanky build that projects well. Lane throws from a high leg kick start with good balance at the top and an on line finish. He hides the ball well in his delivery and hitters appeared to have a tough time picking up the ball. His arm action is short and compact and he could probably get a bit better extension out front. Lane pitched in the 79-81 mph range and topped out at 83 mph with consistent late run on his fastball. His curveball was a quality pitch, with good 2-plane break and sharpness and nice velocity. Lane also mixed in a couple of change ups. He threw strikes with all his pitches and had a good feel for how to pitch. Lane should pick up plenty of velocity as matures physically and he already has the command and the breaking ball to be a very good prospect. Keep a close eye on him. Lane was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team.
