Ben Lenda is a 2008 C from Great Bridge HS in Chesapeake, VA with a 6'0", 186 lb. frame. Ben has a solid athletic build and produced the best pop time of the showcase. (1.95) At the plate Ben has good present strength in his swing, but seemed to be pressing too hard at the event. We saw a long grooved swing, which he will need to work on keeping his hands inside the ball better. Ben is most likely a much better hitter than what he showed. Behind the plate Ben was very impressive where he had a quick release with solid arm strength. (75) He was very active behind the plate and stayed online well to second base. Ben is a very strong defensive catcher that could attract the attention of many mid-level college programs or higher if his offense comes around.
