2006 South Underclass Showcase
Ozzie McMullen is a 2008 SS/P/IF with a 5'7'', 110 lb. frame from Portales, NM, who attends Portales High School. McMullen has a lean frame with projectable strength gains. Defensively he stays in front of the ball well with solid footwork. McMullen has an accurate arm that currently plays better at second base. He did hurt his elbow during his second showcase game. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly closed to straight away stance with a flexed knee. McMullen chokes up on the bat looking to make contact. He shows good hand-eye coordination and always puts the bat on the ball making consistent contact. McMullen uses a line drive swing plane hitting the ball to all fields, and he doesn't chase pitches out of the zone. He appears to have a good knowledge for the game.
