Jake Naumann is a 2009 RHP/3B with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from Naperville IL, who attends Naperville North HS. He has a strong, mature body for his age, with a young face. Naumann has a very busy delivery with a full back turn and a high wrapping action in back that's hard to repeat with any consistency. His arm comes through to a tight high 3/4's release point. Naumann's fastball was 82-84 mph, good velocity for a sophomore, with early large running action. His best off-speed pitch was a 74 mph change up that had good arm speed for deception and nice life down in the strike zone. Developing a consistent breaking ball will be a process given Naumann's present arm action. He threw a slider that he twisted out front along with the wrap in back; this created lots of inconsistencies and the slider was frequently flat at 74 mph. Naumann has good arm strength overall and could improve with some adjustments to his delivery. He is a good student.
