Chris Jones is a 2006 RHP from Mater Dei HS, residing in Irvine, CA, with a 6'3", 200 lb. frame. He has a strong, power type build, a durable pitcher's frame. Jones pitches from an over the top slot with a good backside arm action . He has a cross body delivery that creates some deception. When he separates on time, that cross body stride and movment down the slope helps him hide the ball by causing the hitter to watch his body and not for the window where the ball comes out. Jones does a nice job of keeping the fastball (77-78) down and pitching to the smaller parts of the zone. His curveball (64-65) has 12/6 shape and rolling action. He has the ability to drop the curveball in for strikes, allowing him to steal a strike early in the count or to use it in fastball counts. Jones also throws a straight change-up (70-71) and maintains his arm speed with that pitch. Jones did not tend to give in to the middle and worked to mix his pitches. He wants to make his pitch and was best when he attacked the bottom of the zone with that mix.

Jones is a 6'2" 200 pound 2006 right handed pitcher from Irvine, California who attends Mater Dei High School. He has a strong athletic body with sloped shoulders definitive of a pitcher. He throw from a high 3/4 arm slot with good tempo and sound mechanics. He does throw across his body about 6 inches or so which results in a very heavy ball and good late sink on his fastball which he throws at 83 mph. His curveball has good depth to it and has a good differential between the it and his fastball coming in at 67 mph. Chris' changeup is also a plus pitch with good late action on it throwing it at 66 mph. Overall he his arm works well and is very loose. He also works very quickly and challenges hitters.

Chris Jones is a 2006 first baseman/right handed pitcher from Irvine, California with a solid build, and very muscular legs at 6'2", 200 pounds. He hits from a wide, closed stance with no load and no stride. It's a quiet approach, and he has quick hands to the ball with very good bat speed. He swings with all upper body and shows good raw power. He has a strong top hand through contact and hits hard line drives with the potential to hit for big power. He has good footwork around the bag and he is a solid defensive first baseman. He also pitched from a high 3/4 slot with a compact arm action. His fasttball topped out at 82 mph. He throws a 71 mph change with decent life. He is a young looking junior with a big frame, could be a high level prospect in 2006. Chris is a good student.

Chris is a 2006 grad from Southern California with a large frame and a durable, strong body. He looks like he's worked hard to improve his strength. As a corner infielder, Chris shows the arm strength to play third base but his mobility profiles better at first base at the next level. At the plate, Chris has a balanced base with a no stride type of approach. His strength enables him to generate some bat speed and he shows good bat head control with a short swing. He should continue to improve in the future. Chris also made a short appearance on the mound. He has a good, smooth delivery for a secondary pitcher. His fastball topped out at 79 mph and he threw a 68 mph change up. He didn't show a breaking pitch. Chris is also a good student. with a XL large frame and build, sloped shoulders with a overall strong thick durable body. Athletic looking body with some room for added muscle. Good size and raw strength, some bat speed. Strength type with good hit ability and bat control. Average base with no stride upon approach, likes to keep it simple.
