He is an aggressive pitcher that is not afraid to challenge hitters. Grissom throws a heavy fastball at 82 mph to go with a solid 1-7 curveball at 64 mph. At the plate, he hits from a wide base and has strength in his swing. He has a good lower half with power potential and stays inside the ball. Chase has good hands at first base. He fields out front and has solid actions defensively. Grissom is an excellent student.

Chase Grissom is a 2008 left handed pitcher/left hand hitting first baseman/outfielder from Greece Athena HS, residing in Rochester, NY. He has a 6'0" 180 lb. frame, with a strong lower half, and an athletic body. Grissom is a talented young player with a chance to develop into a strong two-way prospect for many college programs. On the mound he displayed a nice, long arm action, with "reach back" extension on the backside. He has a patient delivery, works over the rubber well and delivers the ball from a 3/4 slot. Grissom showed the ability to pitch inside with his fastball, which topped at 80 mph (he has more velo coming in the future). His fastball has good run and nice angle through the zone. His curveball was his best pitch, getting many swing and misses from the hitters. Grissom's curveball is not hard but has quick break. The spin is tight and the action is late. He was able to start many bats with the breaker and miss a lot of barrels, making it a very usable pitch. Grissom trusts his stuff and competed well to the zone, without giving in to the middle. He can pitch. Offensively he showed good balance and a nice hand path that keeps him inside the ball. His hands are good and the ball left his bat well. Grissom showed some strength and made hard opposite field contact, with a nice oppo stroke. He just may hit a bit. Defensively his hands and feet are adequate around the bag. Consider Grissom a solid D1 follow both ways, with the pitching being ahead of the offense right now.
