Eric Mueller is a 2009 RHP/3B/OF with a 6'0'', 150 lb. frame from Park Ridge IL, who attends Maine South HS. He has a very slender, young build and hasn't started to add strength yet. Mueller is a submarine style pitcher with a Chad Bradford type release point, i.e. way down underneath with knuckles pointing towards the ground. Mueller's fastball was up to 68 mph with the expected sinking action down in the strike zone and he threw a sweeping 61 mph slider and a very slow 52 mph change up. Predictably, Mueller relies on command and deception to get hitters out. He seemed to work more up and down than in and out to hitters and this could be something he could work on to add to his effectiveness. Mueller is also a third baseman who showed a sound fundamental approach at the plate and made solid contact and will continue to improve as he adds strength. He is also an outstanding student.
