Nathan Johnson is a 2008 C/1B with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Camarillo, CA, who attends Camarillo HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Johnson has a tall and lean frame that is projectable. Defensively he receives very well behind the plate with soft hands and nice footwork. He moves his feet well blocking as well. Johnson has solid arm strength with a nice release that produces pop times around 2.00. At the plate he is a left handed hitter with nice swing mechanics. He has a good approach and shows bat speed through the hitting zone. Johnson gets leverage at the point of contact and the ball jumps off his bat. He has raw power and hit a home run in game action. He takes his hand to the ball well with quickness that should allow him to hit for average as well as power. Johnson is a well rounded catcher with solid tools. He is a good student as well.
