Louis Head is a 2008 right handed pitcher (OF, R/R) from Cinco Ranch HS, residing in Katy, TX. He has a 6'0" 165 lb. frame with an average, athletic build that is well-proportioned. Head's body is lean and flexible and his movements are pretty fluid, suggesting some projectability with strength gains. On the mound he has a long, loose, clean stroke and his arm works well. Head has good arm speed and should continue to climb in velocity. His delivery is simple, with good rhythm and is easily repeatable. Head showed a mid-upper 80s fastball that topped at 89 mph. Expect some low 90s bumps, possibly as early as this spring. Head's best secondary pitch is his slider that has tight spin and good biting action. It has two-plane action and is a quality out-type pitch. It appeared that Head used a BP fastball for his change-up and he showed that he has a curveball too. He is a primary pitcher but showed some life in his line drive swing, gathering three hits during the showcase and handling the bat well. His arm translates well to the outfield and he showed good devensive fundamentals. For some college programs Head very well could be considered a two-way prospect to follow. He is a good athlete and his future on the mound looks quite bright.
