Cowart is a 6-0 junior switch-hitting middle infielder from Florida. He has good wiry strength and should continue to get stronger. Cowart ran the 60 in 6.96 and showed nice range and athleticism on defense. He made some tough plays on balls away from him and got the outs. The one thing he’s lacking right now defensively is excellent arm strength. He might be coming off an injury we don’t know about. As is, he will be a very good second baseman at the next level. Cowart shows ability from both sides of the plate offensively. He hits from a narrow open stance and generates good bat speed, with perhaps a bit more pure bat speed and lift from the right side. He looks like he’s a productive and effective hitter both ways. Another thing we really liked about Cowart is he played the game with some confidence and with an edge. That will serve him well as he moves on to the college level. Cowart is a good student.

Chris is a 2006 grad with a average frame and build. Has room to add more muscle in the future. Young kid with some good athletic ability. Smooth slick fielder with soft sure hands and ablity to play shortstop. Light on his feet and good transfers at second to turn the double play well. Offensively, he shows abilty to make solid contact and use all fields well. He has enough athletic ability to increase tools. Ran a 6.84 - 60 and shows excellent instincts. Will play at the next level with some impact ability both offensive and defensively. Has a chance to be a special player.

Chris Cowart is a 2006 MIF from Bradenton, FL. Cowart has some good raw tools that are worth following for college coaches. He’s a sub-7.00 runner on what was a very slow track and he has a live, athletic body. Coward has good actions towards the ball on defense and showed soft, fluid hands on ground balls. In order to become a college middle infielder, he’s going to have to work on his transfer and release, however, or risk moving to the outfield. Cowart hits from a no load, no stride approach, which limits his ability to swing wood. He had a patient approach during games and handled the bat head well. Given his athletic ability and projectable strength, adding some lower half involvement and some rhythm to his swing could work wonders for Cowart. He has a chance to be very good in college. And he's a very good student.
