Roberto Sanchez Jr is a 2007 SS/MIF with a 5'10'', 170 lb. frame from Vero Beach FL, who attends Vero Beach HS. He has a small frame with good present strength. His hands appear to be especially strong. Sanchez hits from a wide stance with very good balance in his swing. He keeps his swing very short and quick and has the strength to stay behind the ball and drive it, especially to the middle of the field. It's a very good wood bat swing and results in very consistent solid line drive contact. It wouldn't surprise us if Sanchez isn't a very high average hitter. Sanchez is a 7.17 runner in the 60 with game speed. He stole a number of bases during the games and got very good jumps. Defensively, Sanchez has smooth actions and the same type of balance and short, quick actions that he shows at the plate. His hands work well. His arm strength is a bit short for shortstop at the next level but fine for second base. Overall, Sanchez is a nice looking young prospect who knows how to play the game and looks like he works very hard at it. Good follow. Sanchez is also a good student.
