Drew Smith is a 2006 catcher and first baseman with a 5'11" 200 pound frame from Malvern, Pennsylvania who attends Great Valley High School. He has a strong body with good athleticism. Drew has good balance at the plate and attacks the ball. He is a patient hitter who has good opposite field power. Behind the dish, he has a compact arm and actions. He had a pop time of 2.04 and threw 78 mph. His feet work well also. Smith also pitched and showed more strength in his arm. His mechanics were very sound and he throws three pitches for strikes. His fastball runs up and away from hitters at 79-82 mph. His curveball was tight with 12-6 rotation at 68 mph while his change up had good fade at 71 mph. Drew is a good all around player who should continue to improve.
