Jonathan Meister is a 2009 3B/SS/P/1B with a 6'4'', 185 lb. frame from West Des Moines IA, who attends Valley HS. He has a tall, athletic build with good projection and looks like a pitcher should look like at this age. Meister throws from a simple step and throw delivery. He stays tall in his delivery and his arm has some looseness coming through. He has a flat, extended early takeaway that a coach will modify and perhaps eliminate at the next level as it throws off his timing and rhythm to the plate. Meister's fastball was 78-80 mph. His best pitcher was a 70 mph curveball that had good spin and bite. Meister also mixed in a few change ups. His velocity should improve naturally with strength and he has some mechanical adjustments that will help right away, too. Meister showed some athletic ability and promise with the bat as well. He hits from a balanced stance with a good swing plane and some bat speed. He makes solid contact when he keeps his hands in and stays short. He'll be an interesting 2009 player to watch develop.
