Steven Simmerman is a 2007 OF/P with a 5'11'', 155 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ, who attends Seton Catholic HS. Lean, athletic frame with speed and quickness. Simmerman ran a 6.97 sixty and showed quickness on the bases and in the field. Defensively he moves well to the ball in the outfield with range and instincts. Solid arm speed and a long release on his throws that cover good distance. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away and upright stance. Simmerman pulls his hands in well staying balanced through his swing. He is a contact hitter who puts the ball in play. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with solid arm speed and minimal effort. Simmerman throws strikes with all three pitches. His fastball topped out at 78 mph, and h mixed in a 69 mph curveball and a 72 mph changeup. Gets depth to his curveball with sharpness, and Simmerman gets arm side sink on his changeup. He did not allow a hit in his 2 innings while striking out 2.
