Josh Ferrell is a 2009 OF/P with a 5'7'', 130 lb. frame from Temecula, CA, who attends Great Oaks HS. Ferrell is a young prospect with a lean body and wiry strength. Defensively he moves well in the outfield and gets good reads off the bat. He has good actions with developing arm strength. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from a straight away to slightly closed stance with a high back elbow. Ferrell has an excellent approach at the plate, and takes an aggressive swing on balls in the zone. He stays on the ball well, and stays balanced through his swing. Ferrell has great potential with his swing. On the mound he throws from an over the top arm slot with a slow, smooth delivery. He has good mechanics and throws with a downhill plane. Ferrell throws out of the stretch with deception in his delivery. He gets cutting action on his fastball that topped out at 72 mph, and he mixes in a 59 mph curveball. There is late movement on his pitches that cause hitter to not center the ball off him. He is also an excellent student.
