DeAndre Derico-Lewis is a 2008 3B/P/1B with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from Atlanta GA, who attends North Atlanta HS. He has a very nice, projectable frame that makes him look taller than his listed 6-1 height. Derico-Lewis ran the 60 in 7.30 and threw 78 mph during infield drills. He played very good defense during the games, showing good hands and very good carry on his throws from third base. Offensively, Derico-Lewis hits from a balanced set up with low hands and a pronounced hand hitch to start his swing. He has some quickness in his wrists but it's awfully hard to hit good pitching with hands starting that low. The ball comes off Derico-Lewis's bat well on contact and he has the potential to improve if he can make some adjustments to get in better hitting position. Derico-Lewis is also a good student.
