Jay Pannell is a 2007 OF from Farragut HS in Knoxville, TN with a 5'11", 155 lb. frame. Jay has a lean athletic build with room to fill out and showed solid speed (7.41) at the showcase. At the plate Jay has a no stride approach and keeps his weight back well. He shows good hand strength but does not get alot of positive momentum in his swing. Jay has the ability to improve quite a bit at the plate with some adjustments in his weight transfer. In the field Jay showed solid actions with an accurate arm. His arm best fits for the left field position. Jay plays for a top-level high school program and will get the chance to play in front of big crowds. He looks like a small-level college player.

Jay Pannell is a 2007 OF with a 5'11'', 155 lb. frame from Knoxville TN, who attends Farragut HS. He has a very slender build with developing strength. Pannell ran the 60 in 7.17 and threw 75 mph during outfield drills. He moves smoothly in the outfield and has a good, quick release on his throws and makes accurate throws. Pannell has good first step quickness and showed his speed on the bases a couple of times. At the plate, Pannell hits from a wide, slightly open stance with no stride and high hands. He has a line drive swing plane and some quickness in his hands. Pannell gets very little lower half involvement in his swing with his present approach. Most of his solid contact is to the opposite field right now and more strength will also help him develop has a hitter. Pannell is an excellent student with very high level academic ambitions.
