2006 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Matt Steven is a 2006 1B/P with a 6'3'', 260 lb. frame from New Hampton IA, who attends New Hampton HS. He has a extra large frame and a big, thick strong body more commonly found on a football guard. He has a short, compact swing at the plate with lots of upper body rotation. Steven can make solid line drive contact with the strength in his hands but his lack of extension keeps him from hitting with any real power. Steven is a 7.90 runner who threw 75 mph during infield drills from first base. He is a good student.
