Good setup behind plate, stays online on throw, accurate arm, aggressive approach, blocks. Has strength at plate, takes hands to ball, showed hard opposite field contact, stays short to ball, excellent student.

Colton Houseman is a 2009 C/P/IF with a 6'2'', 180 lb. frame from Powder Springs, GA, who attends Harrison HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team, and Houseman was one of the best 2009 prospects in attendance. He has a tall and extra large frame with great projection. Defensively he has good arm strength, especially for his age, and was very accurate with his throws right on the second base bag. Houseman works hard behind the plate, and does a great job of blocking balls in the dirt. He is a high energy catcher that works and shows leadership. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who has strength in his swing and has big power projection. He gets great leverage in his swing and the ball jumps off his bat. He centers the ball well, and stays inside the ball well for a power hitter. On the mound he throws from an over the top arm slot with a good down finish. His fastball topped out at 78 mph with tailing life. Houseman has very good upside and is must follow. He is also an excellent student.
