Jason Kemis is a 2008 C/OF/UT with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame from Ames, IA who attends Ames HS. He has an athletic build and live actions. Kemis is a 7.15 runner and showed that he could be a very good outfielder in addition to his catching skills. Kemis threw 71 mph in drills with a best pop time of 1.97. If anything he tries to be too quick behind the plate and would be better off concentrating on balance and fundamentals. Offensively, Kemis hits from a tall open stance with a loose, rotational swing. He has good bat speed and nice extension through the ball. Kemis' swing works for him and he shows good offensive potential that should develop as he gets stronger. Kemis is an excellent student.

He has baseball speed with instincts on the bases. He has solid catching mechanics, receives the ball well, and has an accurate arm. His release is a little long at times. He has some bat speed, and a solid approach with a line drive swing plane. He is a front foot hitter, but could improve greatly with a little more balance in his swing. Jason Kemis is a 2008 C/OF/SS with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Ames IA, who attends Ames HS. He has a nice athletic frame with projectable strength. Kemis has a sound fundamental hitting approach, with good coiling and loading action and good balance to start his swing. He has some hand strength and bat speed and showed the ability to stay short to the ball most of the time and drive it around the field. Kemis will occasionally pull of balls and see his swing get longer as he's trying to pull and lift the ball. Kemis ran the 60 in 7.20 and threw 70 mph with a best pop time of 2.18. He is a quick and agile catcher and shows good energy behind the plate. His release and arm strength need work but he had an accurate arm. Kemis is also a good student.
