Chad Claus is a 2007 C with a 5'9'', 195 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV, who attends Sierra Vista High School. Athletic build, nice footwork behind the plate, good pop times (1.87), nice hitting mechanics, power potential, uses hands well, balanced finish, line drive hitter, gap to gap power with more to come, plays hard, upside, outstanding student as well.

Chad Claus is a 2007 C from Sierra Vista HS, residing in Las Vegas, NV, with a 5'10" 190 lb. frame. Claus has a stocky and strong build, looking quite capable of standing up to collisions at the plate and handling the rigors of the catching position. On offense Claus, a right-handed hitter, hits from a square stance in his pre-pitch set up. He has a fairly short swing and creates some power with that swing, without having to load up and get long to access that power. Claus is not a pretty hitter, but he is strong, has his strong hands get the barrel to the ball pretty consistently. He has good bat speed and maintained balance during his swing. Claus has an aggressive nature at the plate as well. Behind the plate he showed a good exchange in the defensive workout and an accurate arm. His pop times in that workout ranged from 2.05 to 2.15 though his game times were slower than those times. At times in the games he received well, but for the most part he was inconsistent with his receiving. The more time he gets catching quality pitching, the better he will be. For now Claus should be considered a follow type prospect because his bat has a chance to stand out at the catcher position.

Chad Claus is a 2007 catcher/third baseman from Las Vegas Nevada with a big body and a strong torso at 5 ft. 9 185 pounds. He hits from a wide base with high hands and little or no stride. He shows a lot of strength throughout his body, and he generates good wood bat speed. He showed lots of raw power to the pull side during BP, and he has good gap to gap power potential. Behind the plate, Claus showed quick feet with good lateral movement. He has a solid base with a big catchers frame and very good blocking skills. He has a good feel for the position, and he handles pitchers well. He has lots of room to grow and add even more strength. He could be a highest level catching prospect as he matures. Chad is a very good student.
