Anthony Maldonado is a 2009 MIF/3B with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame from River Forest, IL who attends Oak Park & River Forest HS. Anthony has a strong build and shows excellent arm strength across the diamond. His hands and feet also work well in the IF. At the plate is where Maldonado really stands out. He uses an open stance and has excellent bat speed. He drilled a HR into the left field seats in the game and can drive the ball out of any ballpark. He has big power to the pullside and does not get cheated on any swing. He makes hard barrel contact and will drive any fastball left over the plate. The one tool that he needs to improve is his running speed, he's not a clogger at all, but probably profiles best at 3B at the pro level. He's kind of a smaller version of a young high school age Albert Pujols. His bat will be fun to watch over the next year.

Anthony Maldonado is a 2009 MIF with a 6'1'', 165 lb. frame from River Forest IL, who attends Oak Park HS. He is very young but has some physical maturity and strength for his age. Maldonado showed very good defensive actions and skills in the middle of the field. He has a live body and good lower body quickness. He fields the ball out in front and has soft hands. His arm strength is good now and should keep improving. Maldonado made a number of very good game plays, especially showing range to his right when he was playing second base. Offensively, Maldonado hits from a tall, straight backed stance. He has an aggressive swing and attacks the ball. Sometimes he pulls off pitches and needs to finish better, but that's part of his approach to the game. He crushed some balls because of his aggressiveness and shows bat speed and power potential. He's not going to get cheated at the plate. Maldonado is a very good young follow, keep a close eye on him.

Anthony Maldonado is a 2009 MIF with a 6'1'', 165 lb. frame from River Forest, IL, who attends Oak Park HS. Named a Top Prospect at this event, he rates highly among all the '09 prospects we have seen toward the end of the 2006 calendar year. At this particular event he was one of the top all-around players, regardless of his year in school. Maldonado is athletically put together, with a nice present day build and room to add future strength and size. He displayed natural hitting instincts, with plus bat speed and looked well beyond his years as a hitter. He is very relaxed at the plate and has an easy, whippy, lively swing. Maldonado banged the ball to all fields, driving through contact and consistently putting the barrel on the ball. He is going to hit for both high average and above average power. In the field he has an advanced approach and sets up to the ball very well. His feet work well and his hands are good. Maldonado flowed to and through the ball well and can make plays on the move. In all aspects he has the look of a pro prospect and should be followed closely by all levels of the game.
