Will King is a 2008 LHP/1B from Carmel HS, residing in Carmel Valley, CA, with a 6'0" 130 lb. frame. King has a thin, medium frame that will continue to add muscle and strength in the coming years. On the mound he pitches from a 3/4 arm slot, and due in part to his immature body, his delivery is a bit inconsistent. Clearly strength gains will help tighten up that delivery and will enhance his present stuff. In January of '06 he showed a 75 mph fastball, and a 60 mph curveball. A positive in his approach was that King didn't give in to the strike zone and worked to make his pitches. The slow breaking ball is a good compliment to his fastball, capable of upsetting the timing of hitters. His fastball has arm side run at times, and his arm strength is still developing. He is a young lefthander with projection and upside, and King should be followed at all levels of college baseball.
