Hunter Cervenka is a 2008 LHP/OF/1B with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Baytown, TX who attends Ross Sterling HS. He has a lean and strong build and is pretty physically mature. Cervenka is a quick twitch athlete with impressive tools both on the mound and as a power hitting outfielder. His arm strength has been obvious for some time; he's been throwing in the low 90's since his sophomore year. He topped out at 92 mph in Cincinnati but had the same type of struggles with command and consistency that have frequently plagued him. Cervanka's curveball shows tight spin on occasion but his release point varies on the pitch and he tends to wrap it in back. When Cervenka learns to tone down his max effort delivery and make some adjustments with the idea of developing consistent mechanics, he'll take the next step as a pitcher. Cervenka's approach to hitting is pretty similar to his pitching approach. He has plus bat speed and when everything comes together he shows very good power and can turn around high velocity stuff. He gets long to the ball often though and his hitting mechanics vary from at bat to at bat. Cervenka threw 93 mph from the outfield and ran 6.87, so those tools play high. Cervenka has a verbal commitment to Texas.

Hunter Cervenka is a 2008 LHP/OF with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Baytown, Texas, who attends Sterling HS. Hunter has a very athletic build and is one of the Top 08's players in the country. Hunter throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short compart arm action and very good delivery. He does a good job of working downhill and the ball really seems to jump on hitters. Hunter has a good feel for all of his pitches and will attract a lot of draft attention next spring. At the plate Hunter has very good bat speed and nice raw power potential. He is a little stiff at times, but when he connects the ball will really go. Defensively Hunter has the tools of an MLB rightfielder currently. He has huge arm strength with accuracy and has solid overall actions in the outfield. Hunter is a solid student that will be a highest level college prospect and possibly an early round draft pick.

Hunter Cervenka is a 2008 left handed pitcher/left hand hitting outfielder from Sterling HS, residing in Baytown, TX. Named a Top Prospect at this event. He has a 6'0" 185 lb. frame and a body that is strong, physical, and put together quite well. He actually looked bigger and more powerful than his listed height/weight. Cervenka is one of the top talents in the '08 class, as either a power left hander or as a physical left handed bat with a big time arm. On the mound (and in the outfield too) he has a very quick and strong arm. His delivery is compact and his arm stroke is pretty short on the backside. Cervenka's fastball was up to 90 mph (91 from the outfield) and had plus life and run. The more patient he is with his delivery, the better his fastball was, not to mention that it came out easier too. His curveball is a power downer, capable of being a plus out-pitch. Cervenka also threw what was either a very lateral slider or a cutter. He is very aggressive with his arm and his stuff is powerful, bat breaking type stuff. Offensively he has present day power and more down the road. He takes an aggressive swing but maintains good balance. His power stroke will also allow him to hit for average because his swing is short to the ball and his barrel stays in the zone for a long time. He does have good timing but even when he is off, he can still get his hits. Cervenka is a middle of the line-up type, run producing hitter. Defensively he has plus arm strength. He approaches the ball very well and sets himself in good position to throw. His arm is accurate, making text book one hop throws on the bag. Cervenka should rack up the outfield assists, as long as runners challenge him. He is a top level D1 prospect and will also get upper round consideration in the '08 draft.

Hunter Cervenka is a 2008 left hand hitting outfielder/left hand pitcher from Sterling HS, residing in Baytown, TX. He is a powerfully built young player with a strong and physical 6'0" 195 lb. frame. He was one one of only a handful of '08 grads at PG National and he acquitted himself quite well among many of the most talented players in the nation. Cervenka pitches from an over the top slot with deep extension on the backside of his arm stroke. His arm is strong and he primarily does use that arm on the mound. With and 87-89 mph fastball that topped out at 90, Cervenka no doubt has stuff that will have him on most follow lists of '08 grads. His fastball can ride on the arm side. To go with the heater, Cervenka showed a tight 72-74 mph curveball with at times plus depth. That pitch certainly has a chance to be well above average. At the plate Cervenka has a nice looking swing and approach, willing to use the opposite field. His hands work pretty well and he has enough raw strength to hit some home runs. Though you may not think it looking at him, he is a very good base runner, getting plus jumps and showing the ability to steal a base, while always looking to run. From the outfield he has a legitimate RF arm, registering up to 91 and throwing on-line with a low trajectory. He ran 4.52 home/1st and posted a 7.28 60 yard time (laser).

Hunter Cervenka is a 6' 185 pound left handed pitcher and outfielder from Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas who was named to the Top Prospect Team. He has a strong frame and a lean build. Hunter has a quick arm and hides the ball very well. He has a loose arm and finishes very well which helps him keep the ball down. His fastball is very sneaky at 89 mph and has good sink. He throws a curveball at 72 mph that is very hard with good tight 1/7 rotation. Cervenka showed his great arm strength by throwing 91 mph from the outfield during the workout. His throws were also very accurate with good carry. He is smooth and glides to the ball effortlessly. At the plate, Cervenka has a very quick bat. He is balanced and quick to the ball. He gets outstanding leverage and has big time power projection. Hunter is a great all around athlete who is one of the top players in his class. He is also a good student with a 3.0 gpa.
