Calvin Matthews IV is a 2022 OF/3B with a 5-8 130 lb. frame from Rosedale, MD who attends Our Lady Of Mt Carmel High Schoo.. Young, projectable build with square shoulders and a lean frame with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary outfielder, takes short steps moving towards the baseball, fields the ball out front, uses a short crow hop to gain momentum into throws, full arm action through the back and comes around clean, works to a three-quarters release point, arm strength will continue to develop with physical strength gains. Righthanded hitter, begins with a side and slightly closed stance and a high hand set and back elbow. Leg lift trigger with stride into contact, pulls hands back at start of swing and shows a linear swing plane through the zone. Loads weight on backside and can continue to incorporate additional lower half into swing, contact approach and can get to the opposite field.
