Alex Taku is a 2008 LHP/OF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Santa Cruz Ca, who attends Santa Cruz HS. He has an average athletic type build. Taku is a primary pitcher, and a good one at that, but he also shows solid ability with the bat. His arm works well, delivering his pitches from an over the top slot. He has good body control and a patient delivery he is able to repeat. Taku knows how to pitch and throws quality strikes. He moves the fastball around, goes in and out and maintains good down angle with that pitch. His cureveball is a 12/6ish offering and though it is slow (65 mph), it does have some depth and he keeps it in the bottom of the zone. He has good mound presence. At the plate Taku showed a quick bat and an easy, flat swing. He is a line drive, spray contact hitter, and can occassionally get into the gaps. He can run a little bit too. Taku is a solid student and should be a consistent performer at the college level. He has mastery of his abilities.
