Patrick Mattos is a 2007 OF/P/1B with a 6'1'', 165 lb. frame from Chickamauga GA, who attends Gordon Lee HS. He has a young and very projectable athletic body that had lots of looseness and life to it. Mattos showed his athletic ability in the outfield, moving smoothly and quickly to balls and showing a very smooth and easy arm action and very good outfield arm strength. It would have been nice to see Mattos on the mound as he has all the obvious ingredients to have pitching talent. Offensively, Mattos hits from a wide stance and has a still start to his swing. He tends to pull off on his swing, which results in inconsistent contact. He gets good extension and will improve with better direction to the ball and more physical strength. Mattos is a good athlete and should be followed, especially if you have a chance to see him on the mound. He is a very good student.
