Adam Rice is a 2006 1B/OF/C with a 6'1'', 200 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA, who attends Kennedy HS. Strong, well built player with overall body strength. Rice has good speed for his size. He plays hard, hustles, and has fun playing the game. Defensively he has position flexibility, but he moved his feet well around the first base bag and this looks like his primary position. Rice has the arm strength to handle other positions such as 3B or the outfield. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who uses a leg lift trigger. Rice has bat speed and has strength in his swing. He is an aggressive hitter, and he can drive the ball hard when it is centered. For being a power hitter with an aggressive swing, he doesn't swing and miss often showing good contact skills. Rice has very good upside and looks like the type of player that will work hard and continue to improve. He is a very good student as well.

Adam Rice is a 2006 1B/C/3B from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a 6'1", 215 pound frame and wide shoulders and a strong lower half. He hits from an open stance with good balance throughout the swing, and good extension on his finish. He has a level swing plain and hits line drives to all fields. He had a solid batting practice showing gap to gap power. He showed a great glove at first base picking balls out of the dirt, and showed a strong arm across the infield. He needs to be smoother and quicker with his feet to increase his range on defense. Adam has a huge frame to add strength, and a great deal of potential to develop and play a high level of college ball.

Rice is a sophomore catcher from the Midwest. At 6 foot 1 and 205 pounds he has got a good frame to begin with. He runs OK for a big catcher, especially at his age posting a 7.57 in the 60. He can move around well behind the plate too. He showed good receiving ability and he did catch a few top pitchers that had difficult stuff to handle. We think he can improve upon his mobility and foot-speed even more as he strengthens and continues with a good conditioning program. His arm is good for his age popping between 2.19 and 2.29 with control. His bat appeared to have some pop, as he swings hard. He hit a few balls out in front of the plate and his power was mostly to left field. He has some good fundamentals to build off of and a frame that he can use to his advantage over the next couple years.
