Strong frame with big upper half, thickness in legs, leg lift rock back delivery, medium effort, compact arm action, hides ball well in back, changeup is a good pitch, curveball spins tight with very nice break at times.

Tyler Cline is a 2008 RHP/3B/C with a 6'23', 215 lb. frame from Cartersville GA, who attends Cass HS. He has a thick, well proportioned extra strong build. Cline lists himself as a primary outfielder but while he is a quality two-way prospect, we liked him better as a right handed pitcher in Fort Myers. Cline throws from a balanced, low effort delivery that makes good use of his strong lower half. He stays on line and throws with a good downhill plane from a high 3/4's release point. Cline's fastball topped out at 90 mph and was steadily 87-89. He hides the ball well in his delivery. Cline's fastball had good run and he threw one that had plus/plus sink/bore that was unhittable. Both of Cline's off speed pitches had good quality. He threw a slurve type slider at 75 mph that had late, hard break when he stayed on top of hit and didn't get on the side. Cline's change up had good deception with the late life that he also showed on his fastball. He has the combination of stuff and pitching ability that should make him immediately successful at the next level. Offensively, Cline has good strength and power at the plate but tends to get out in front very quickly, which negates his power and some of his bat speed. He's an aggressive hitter who can drive the ball to the gaps. As a 7.86 runner, Cline's future as a position player is either at first base or behind the plate, where he does have some experience. He was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team.
