Moran is a 6-1, 155 lb left handed first baseman/outfielder from New York with a very young, projectable body. He ran the 60 in 7.47 and threw a strong 83 mph from the outfield. Moran showed smooth and polished defensive actions at first base and that might be his best position in the future. Moran had one of the best pure swings at the showcase. It's very smooth and quick and enables Moran to square up on the ball just about every time he swings the bat. The only thing that Moran lacks right now is the strength to drive the ball hard consistently, but he did show some present gap to gap power on a few swings. He must be a very high average hitter with metal. It became a PG scouting staff talking point every time Moran came up to the plate; "I wonder where he's going to the ball hard to this at bat." Moran also pitched and showed a loose arm and balanced delivery while throwing 77-80 mph with his fastball. Follow very closely, this is a young hitter who could come on quick and be an impact player soon!

Brian Moran is a 2006 first baseman/left handed pitcher from Rye, NY with a tall lean build at 6-1, 155 lbs. defensively, he has good arm strength at 81 mph across the infield. He has a very good glove at first base and he can pick balls out of the dirt well. He hits from a medium stance with an open to close approach. He has a line drive swing plane and shows good power when he keeps his weight back. He has quick hands and he generates good bat speed. He pitches from a 3/4 slot with a clean arm action. His fastball shows run at 78 mph. He shows good command and works in and out well. His curveball shows decent action and depth at 65 mph. His change was at 73 mph. He is a solid player with potential to be a 2-way guy. Brian is a good student.

Moran is a junior first baseman/left handed pitcher from New York with a long and lanky body. Moran’s birthdate is that of a 2007 prospect. Moran showed projectable prospect tools on both sides of the ball, especially if you consider his age and present strength. As a hitter, Moran hits out of a wide base with plenty of natural pull/loft in his swing and very good extension through the ball. It might take a few years but Moran is going to hit some balls a long way. One thing we’d like to see him do is keep his head steadier through his swing and not change his eye level before contact. Moran also pitched three very effective innings, striking out 8 hitters. He has a somewhat unorthodox delivery, with a long arm action and a low ¾’s release that has plenty of deception. Moran’s best pitch was a sharp biting curveball that had hitters off balance. His fastball was in the 74-75 mph area and he threw 80 mph during infield to show additional arm strength. Moran is also a good student.
