Paul Wagner is a 2008 C/3B that attends Northwood HS and resides in Irvine, CA with a 6'0", 198 lb. frame. Paul has a thick well-developed build. At the plate Paul has good strength in his swing, but is more of a contact hitter at this time. Paul cuts under the ball some and will need to work on leveling his swing plane and getting his weight on his back side longer. Behind the plate Paul has good footwork with a quick release. He will need to improve his arm strength to reach his potential behind the plate. Paul looks like a player that could attract attention from many smaller colleges.

Paul Wagner is a 2008 C/3B with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame from Irvine, CA, who attends Northwood HS. Medium frame with strength throughout his body. Defensively he stays low on his throws to second base and produced a 2.16 pop time and threw 71 mph. During the games he did a nice job blocking balls in the dirt and shifted his weight well, and showed great hustle. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away to slightly closed stance. Wagner has good bat speed through the zone with a short path to the ball. He is an aggressive hitter that likes the ball on the inner half, but showed the ability to hit to the opposite field as well. Wagner stays back well and gets a good weight shift and leverage at contact. He is also a patient hitter with good strike zone awareness. Wagner is a young player with good upside that should be followed. He is a good student as well.

Paul Wagner is a 2008 C/3B from Northwood HS, residing in Irvine, CA, with a 6'0" 178 lb. frame. Wagner has a strong build for a young player, generally an athletic type body. A switch-hitter, Wagner is further along as a right handed hitter. From the right side he gets the barrel to the ball well and has a no-stride approach with his lower half. Wagner's hands dominate his swing and he has some strength in those hands. He shows some power potential from right side, though he is going to have to develop further as an overall hitter to access his power potential. From the left side Wagner is still developing the his batting stroke. His bat speed is average for a high school player, but his contact was inconsistent. More reps are necessary for him to be more fully evaluated from that side. On defense Wagner's pop times were from 2.17-2.30 and his exchange was patient and conservative. He stays under control and doesn't try to do more than he is capable of. As a young catcher that is working on his switch-hitting, Wagner should go on an '08 follow list and then evaluated each of the next two summers.
