2005 Sunshine West Showcase
Brian Kolb is a 2006 middle infielder from Santa Fe Christian HS in Carlsbad, CA, with a 6'0", 160 lb. frame. Defensively Kolb showed good footwork in the middle infield with an accurate throwing arm. He has the defensive actions to play either middle infield position, but his arm might play better and second base at the next level. At the plate Kolb is a right handed hitter with a crouched stance and high hand set. Kolb had some of the best game hits of the showcase including back to back doubles to left field on the final day of the showcase. He has very good bat speed with a line drive swing path, and stays balanced throughout his swing. Kolb has strength in his swing with good leverage, and shows the ability to hit for a good average as well. He is also an outstanding student.
