2006 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Greg Vernon is a 2007 OF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Anamosa IA, who attends Anamosa HS. He as a lean athletic build and developing strength. Vernon ran the 60 in 7.26 and his hustling, all out style of play maximizes his speed. He made a couple of diving plays in the outfield during th egames and gets good reads off the bat. His arm strength was solid and his throws accurate. Offensively, Vernon hits out of a closed stance and tends to fly open at contact, which leaves him off balance at contact. Vernon made soft middle of the field contact and will improve as he gets stronger and learns to hit through the ball.
