Brian Bercaw is a 2005 right handed pitcher/infielder from a small 1A school in Bradenton, Florida, with a 6'1", 205 lb. frame. We understand that he suffered an arm injury earlier in his high school career and hasn’t fully recovered. Bercaw threw 70 mph from the mound in Fort Myers from a low ¾ release point and also threw a 55 mph curveball with a big break. He did a good job of mixing his pitches and locations around and trying to pitch. Bercaw showed some strength with the bat in batting practice. A switch hitter, he jumps out on his front side early, but has the hand strength to get the wood bat moving. He probably hits very well at the high school level from what we saw. He also has good hands and a feel for the game. Brian is a good student.

Brian Bercaw is a 2005 RHP/1B from Bradenton, FL. At 6'1", 205, Brian has a large frame with some present strength. Brian showed a nice and loose arm from a high 3/4 arm slot. Defensively he showed average foot speed around the first base bag and shows solid fielding skills. Brian hits from an open stance with a wide base and has a long stride with heavy weight transfer into contact. He showed average bat speed with a high finish to his swing. He is a contact hitter with a tendency to pull the ball. Brian can switch hit, and it is a mirror image. With some quality instruction to polish his skills, and future strength gains, he has a chance to play at the next level.
