2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Kelly Ewing is a 5-7, 175 lb junior second baseman from Illinois He ran the 60 in 8.14 and threw 65 mph during infield drills. Ewing showed good hands during the showcase games and made the routine play well while showing limited range. Ewing's best tool was his bat. He has good balance in his swing and shows bat head skills in adjusting to different pitch locations and speeds. Ewing has some lift in his swing which likely helps him when he's swinging metal bats. He made consistent contact with wood and should continue to get stronger.
