Taylor Gigliotti is a 2007 OF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Danville CA, who attends Monte Vista HS. Gigliotti is one of those players that is on the verge of a real breakthrough. It was clear that he was working on using a newly trained swing, sacrificing some results to see how his new hitting approach would work in this event. He is a good athlete and is still developing. Gigliotti has a long, lean, athletic body, with plenty of size and strength to gain. Offensively he projects a bit. He transfers his weight well and has a swing that is going to produce some power in the future. He works to keep his hands inside the ball through contact, creating nice barrel lag that will eventually allow him to square up at contact, with his body solidly behind the ball, generating power with is whole body. Gigliotti also showed some base stealing instincts. He could be on the verge of really breaking out this spring. Defensively he has a smooth approach to the ball and feel for playing in the outfield. Gigliotti gets good jumps and reads the ball well off the bat. He has an accurate arm and good arm strength, with some carry on his throws. Gigliotti has grades that will push him to a state school or possibly a JC. He is the type of player that JC ball is perfect for. On the other side of two years more of development, he quite possibly is a draftable prospect and certainly a D1 player.
