Drew McWhorter is a 2009 C/OF with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame from Duluth GA, who attends Northview HS. He has a short build with good overall present strength. McWhorter was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. McWhorter's bat is very advanced for his age and position. He hits from an upright stance and takes adavantage of his quick and strong hads to create very good bat speed. McWhorter has the ability to both swing hard and to keep his swing short, which is unusual in a young hitter. He centers the ball well and it jumps off his bat well with gap to gap power. McWhorter has a hitting approach that should continue to produce as the game speeds up. Defensively, McWhorter has good hand quickness and a good release. His footwork behind the plate needs work. McWhorter has good speed and lower body life, he just hasn't started to master using his tools behind the plate. His arm strength is solid for his age. Overall, McWhorter has lots of physical tools that should keep improving and a very good bat. He's a good follow.
