John Sherrod is a 2016 LHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Mobile, AL who attends Cottage Hill Christian Academy. Broad shouldered athletic build, plenty of room to fill out and get stronger. Sound fundamental delivery with good direction to the plate, compact arm action in back with good extension out front, high 3/4's arm slot creates good angle to the plate, has some deception to his delivery and repeats it well. Upper 70's fastball, gets on hitters quickly, has good sinking and running life and throws his fastball for strikes. Solid curveball has good depth and some tightness, gets 12/6 action at times. Showed some feel for his change up. Threw strikes with all three pitches and keeps hitters off balance well. Left handed hitter with big leg raise load, has a loose swing with some extension, pulls the ball and has some bat speed and leverage at contact. Good student.
