Nicholas Sauls is a 2008 RHP/1B/DH from Archbishop Spalding HS in Severn, MD with a 6'6", 240 lb. frame. Nicholas is a very big and strong kid that towered over the rest of the kids at the showcase. On the mound Nicholas showed good velocity but struggled with his command. He is a high effort pitcher that likes to stay away with most of his pitches. Nicholas will need to work on developing some more of his off-speed pitches to complement his fastball. At the plate Nicholas shows big raw power potential but needs to make some adjustments in his approach. He is very aggressive and shows good bat speed but has a tendency to pull off the ball some. Defensively at first base Nicholas has clean actions but will need to work on improving his foot speed some. Nicholas is a big strong kid that has some potential to attract attention from many mid-level colleges.
