Taylor Gouffon is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'4'', 180 lb. frame from Knoxville, TN who attends Bearden HS. He has a long and lean pitcher's build that projects well physically. Gouffon's arm wroks smoothly and effortlessly and the ball comes out of his hand with little effort. He has a bit of a palm up takeaway in back but works through it with no problem. Gouffon's fastball was 83-85 mph consistently and had good sinking action at the plate. His curveball had a shorter, slider like break and was also consistent and had some sharpness. Where Gouffon can improve, along with getting stronger, is in improving his front side use. He tucks his lead arm into his body right now and this causes stiffness and a lack of leverage as his right arm comes through. We've graded Gouffon well as a hitter before but didn't see the same type of bat speed this time around. He has a good looking swing with sound fundamentals and good use of his hands, but he didn't swing the bat aggressively and looked more like a primary pitcher at the plate. Gouffon is an excellent student off the field.
