Joe Gorley is a 2008 OF/P with a 5'9'', 175 lb. frame from Marietta, Georgia, who attends Lassiter Hugh School. Gorley has a medium frame with present strength. Defensively he moves through the ball well in the outfield with solid defensive actions. He has good arm speed that helps produce arm strength on his throws, and he projects to throw even better in the future. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly open and crouched stance with an average base. Gorley uses a toe tap trigger, and shows solid bat speed through the hitting zone with a line drive swing plane. He has the ability to hit the ball to all fields and consistently hits to the opposite field. He stays on the curveball well, and is a very patient hitter. On the bases he has instincts and shows good hustle. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle. He threw from the stretch and his fastball topped out at 74 mph. Gorley also mixed in a 60 mph curveball. He is a good student as well.
