2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Brendan Emmett is a 5-10, 160 lb senior left handed hitting middle infielder from Canada. He has good first step quickness and runs the 60 in 7.11. Emmett has nice range on defense and a quick release from a low 3/4's arm angle. He profiles best to second base with his actions and arm strength. His feet and range will enable him to get to lots of balls. Offensively, Emmett is a busy hitter with lots of extra hand and foot movement in his load. He keeps his hands back well and has a short line drive swing plane and good hand quickness. He flashed some pull power when he got an inside pitch and got his hands through the ball but also showed he could hit the ball the other way as well. Emmett was better on fastballs than off speed pitches but has the hand quickness and short swing path to adjust to breaking balls, tool. He looks like a high average type of hitter who can hit at the top of a line up and set the table. Emmett plays the game hard and knows how to play. He has an excellent approach and attitude. Emmett is also a very good student.
