2003 Sunshine West Showcase
At 6 foot 1 and 180 pounds, Torchia has a good baseball body and the tools to compliment his bat making him an interesting prospect. He ran a 6.95 in the 60, threw 84 mph from the outfield and showed good bat-speed in BP. He flashed some occasional power in the games with gap to gap hitting and can field his position well. He even showed smart base-running ability. He lists himself as a second position pitcher and he was equally impressive there with a 85-87 mph that showed good run from a high 3/4 arm slot and a sharp 72-74 mph curveball with a 2-plane path. He has a good arm and can do a lot on the baseball field. He is one prospect that we plan to watch closely in the 2005 class ! Good athlete! Good student.
