Matt Machado is a 5'9" 178 pound 2006 catcher and infielder from Turlock, California who has a wide durable and strong catchers body that is very mature. During the workout, he ran a 7.83 60 and threw 65 mph to second base with a pop time of 2.23. He has a quick short release and has good hands and good footwork. At the plate, Matt has a compact swing and makes very good contact. He starts with an erect back elbow and an average base. He uses a small stride if any to attack the ball. He came ready to play when he jumped all over the first pitch of the game and laced a hard line drive single. He really set the tone of what he came here to accomplish. Matt comes to play and is aggressive with the bat to hit somewhere in the middle of the line up and produce runs.
