Joey DeBernardis is a 2008 IF/P with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from Lake Zurich, IL who attends Lake Zurich HS. He has a broad shouldered strong build with a solid lower half. DeBernardis' infield actions were fluid and his feet quick for an athlete his size. The most obvious place to project him to would be third base but he might be the type who could surprise and play some shortstop and second base at the next level and either be a versatile utility player or a positive offensive threat in the middle of the field. His arm strength will play at any position. Offensively, DeBernardis has a quick, line drive swing and does a good job staying inside the ball and hitting it deep in the zone. He showed gap to gap power, especially on fastballs, and drove the ball well to right center field. His quiet approach and present bat speed projects him well at the next level. DeBernardis should keep improving and is a solid all around prospect.

Joey DeBernardis is a 2008 MIF/3B/P with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Lake Zurich, IL, who attends Lake Zurich HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. DeBarnardis has a good frame with projection in his body. Defensively he has nice actions in the middle of the diamond showing soft hands. DeBarnardis also has smooth movements with nice footwork and body control. Has arm strength on his throws across the diamond with accuracy. He is an advanced defender. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a wide base. He gets bat speed through the hitting zone, and he has the ability to hit to all fields. There is strength in his swing that should allow him to hit for power in the future. He is a line drive hitter who takes an aggressive swing and explodes on the ball. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm. DeBarnardis gets run on his fastball that topped out at 83 mph, and he gets sinking action on his 71 mph change. He has a nice delivery with projectable velocity. Nice two-way prospect, and a good student.
