Mike Young is a 2014 SS/RHP, IF with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Mashpee, MA who attends Pope John Paul II. Tall, athletic frame with room to fill out. Ran a 7.42 60 yard dash. Makes the throws with ease across the diamond and shows solid footwork for the middle infield. Bats right-handed, works from a closed stance and carries his hands high. Has a line drive swing path and flashes good bat speed. Also took the mound, works from a high three-quarter arm slot and bends at the waist in his delivery. Touches 84 mph with his fastball and shows good sinking life through the zone. Also mixes in a slow 11-5 curveball. Slider is his best off-speed offering, flashes sharp and late tilt. Outstanding student.
