Elam is a 5-10 sophomore catcher from Louisiana with a slender build on a medium frame. He ran the 60 in 7.64 and threw 66 mph with a low pop time of 2.25 in drills. Elam hasn’t started developing his strength yet and this shows in his throwing and hitting. At the plate, Elam hits from a wide stance with limited load and stride and little use of his lower half. He has a line drive swing plane and is a contact hitter to the middle of the field. He moves well behind the plate. He is only a sophomore so he has lots of time to develop. Elam is a good student.
